What we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to make it go away. Plain language, no fine print doing work the plain language doesn’t also say.

What you give us

We ask for this because it’s exactly what a people-search site or a username search needs to find you. We don’t ask for more than that, and we don’t ask for anyone else’s details.

What we do with it

We look you up the way a stranger could: on people-search sites, and across public account pages for the handles you gave us. What we find becomes your report. We use automated checks to help decide whether a hit is really you rather than someone with a similar name or the same handle, and we tell you which of those checks succeeded, which didn’t, and which we couldn’t run at all.

Building your report is also, right now, a hands-on process: a person looks at the results before they’re delivered. That’s not a bot writing your report end to end.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data.We don’t share it with data brokers, advertisers, or anyone buying lookups in bulk. The only reason a third party in the list above sees anything is that they’re doing a piece of the job we’re doing for you.

Who can see your report

Only your verified account. We check that you’re the person a scan is about before the report opens, and the report is never shown to anyone who hasn’t proven that.

How long we keep it

Your report and everything you gave us stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting removes your report, your scan results, and your account itself, and your report link stops working immediately, not eventually.

Open question, not yet decided: today there is no automatic deletion after some fixed number of days. Deletion is on request only. Worth a real decision before this page is final, e.g. auto-delete after N months of inactivity, versus keep indefinitely until asked. Recommendation: keep it request-only for launch, since an automatic timer that outraces a customer who wants to keep re-reading their report for a while would be a worse failure than the one it prevents; revisit once there are real customers to learn from.

Scanning only you

Scourjay is built to scan the person the details belong to, not a third party. You confirm this before you pay, your report goes only to your verified account, and that record is kept. None of that makes misuse impossible; it makes it traceable and expensive rather than free and anonymous, and we’d rather say that plainly than promise something we can’t back up.
